Dr. Joseph Messina
I am a geographer with intersectional interests among, small holder agricultural systems, climate change, and zoonotic disease. My work is global with projects in Latin America, SE Asia, and across Africa and diverse funding partners including NASA, NIH, NSF, USAID and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Most of my recent work combines two or more of my thematic interests, whether it is agricultural systems and climate change in Malawi or pastoral systems, climate change, and trypanosomiasis in Kenya. I like to build space-time models of these systems to promote informed decision making and development solutions.
